More Information
Group size can range from 4 to 32 participants. Have a large group? We can get two groups of 16 in the same 2 hour block. All 32 would receive the off-ice curling talk and then the first group would hit the ice for about an hour and then the groups would switch and the second group of 16 would take to the ice. Contact the Curling Club for pricing.
Curling is played 4 against 4. Games can be modified if you have a team of 3 (or even 5). To save time, have your teams or tournaments set prior to arriving. Typically one team will play another team for the entire duration and you will get about 4 to 6 ends in (each end, like an inning in baseball, takes about 15-20 minutes). If you are running a tournament or want to play different opponents, note that a “game” will probably be one or two ends.
Slips and falls, although very rare, can happen. Wearing dress shoes increases the risk of a fall. We stress the importance of carrying in clean athletic shoes. This helps keep our ice clean and you safe.
Groups of juniors (ages 12-20) are allowed and encouraged. No children under the age of 12 are allowed to curl. Juniors must have at least 1 adult supervisor for every 4 juniors. We can provide curling events for Boy/Girl Scout troops.
Groups displaying unsafe or unruly behavior or arrive at the club under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be asked to leave immediately without refund (at the discretion of the instructors).
Participants must sign a waiver form prior to stepping on the ice.
Dress for Your Curling Event
- Bring along a clean pair of clean-on-the-bottom athletic shoes. Carry them in, do not wear them in. It is extremely important to keep the ice clean. No leather soled shoes or metal lace hooks.
- Dress comfortably. Jeans are difficult – wear loose fitting/stretchy clothes as you will be in lunge positions.
- The curling arena is about 40°F. Consider a hat, gloves and a warm jacket or hoodie.
Food and Beverage
Our club offers a lounge/viewing area with a full bar for socializing. You may bring your own food or snacks. If catering is required please let us know and we can recommend caterers or we will work with your caterer. Alcohol can not be consumed prior to going on the ice.
There are no refunds or exchanges for any reason (cancellations, no shows, weather, etc) unless the event is cancelled by Norfolk Curling Club.
